Sponsored by Aurora, CO
This new pedestrian bridge connects the Nine Mile light rail station to a newly developed neighborhood across a busy road in Aurora, CO. The bridge is clad with KodaXT, creating a colorful passageway and a new landmark. The selected hues connect human nature and the site with the natural world of the sky and the prairie, celebrating Aurora’s regional landscape. As a part of the Community Engagement for this project, we asked the public a series of question about the character of the area on “Engage Aurora,” the city’s social hub. The public’s comments inspired our approach and informed the selection of words written on the beams of the bridge. These words, in five languages, express the diverse nature of the community.
