This new pedestrian tunnel connects the Weston Trail with the Crabtree Creek Greenway, providing access to a regional trail system and Lake Crabtree. Lake Crabtree is a prime destination for neighborhood residents, nearby office workers, school children, and visitors alike. Imagery of water is inspiring and symbolic. Water is associated with the source of life. Also, its symbolism encompasses many different meanings, across many different cultures. Water is universal. It is associated with birth, fertility, transformation, cleansing, dreams, wisdom, memory, and much, much more. Lake Crabtree is a prime destination for people walking the Weston Trail. It connects trail users to the lake. This connection compelling inspired us to work with imagery of water for the Crabtree Tunnel wall patterning systems.

Our “inspired by water” concept for the Crabtree Creek Connector features custom pattern relief cast concrete walls suggesting water patterns and 8” x 8” Dal Natural Hue Tiles to introduce a playful path inside the tunnel, suggesting a wave motion.
