25th STREET

25th Street Bridge
2000-2002, Wichita, KS

Vicki Scuri SiteWorks with Mark Spitzer Designs, Wilson Darnell Mann Landscape Architects and Parsons Brinckerhoff
Sponsored by City of Wichita

The 25th Street Bridge is over 2,000' long crossing the Arkansas River Flood Plain. This project connects East and West Wichita providing increased access to new neighborhoods and continuity with greenways, bicycle paths and trails. On the West Side the project features a green gateway marked with linear bands of trees reflecting agricultural fields and windscreens. On the East Side the project features an urban gateway marked with Windside Wind Turbines generating their own illumination from the wind. The wind theme is interpreted in several ways: curved balconies with fin wall, curved railings, and at the gateways with tree windscreens and wind turbines. Vicki Scuri Siteworks and Mark Spitzer Designs provided a conceptual art and urban design plan for the project. They collaborated with the Team in the implementation of all elements.
