TRILOBITE TOT LOT
Lake Hills Neighborhood Trilobite Tot Lot
1991, Bellevue, WA
Vicki Scuri SiteWorks with Nakano Dennis
Sponsored by City of Bellevue, Department of Parks & Recreation
This project features a sand play area with a dig for young
children providing experiential play promoting imagination and
creativity. The tot lot is located in the heart of the park lending character
and sense of place to the park and providing a place to rest and reflect.
The Trilobite Tot Lot is inspired by the original name of the park: Lake
Hills. As there are no lakes or hills in the neighborhood; the Trilobite Tot
Lot introduces a fictitious history: the hills have worn down to sand; the
lake has dried up and what remains is the Trilobite Tot Lot. The adjacent
neighborhood fond of the trilobites adopted them as their community
logo. The pavers are 2-foot square fabricated in precast concrete with
integral color.
