RECOMMENDATIONS

Meadowood Complex, Reno, NV
“The Meadowood project was the first Northern Nevada project to incorporate elements of the Nevada Department of Transportation's (NDOT)  Landscape and Aesthetic Corridor Plan which prescribed the goal of creating the interchange as a gateway to the nearby commercial district. In working with the team landscape architects Vicki was able to develop a strong program of retaining walls, bridge components and unique lighted tower structures that incorporated the theme based on the natural history of the place and objectives of the NDOT plan. The result is a cohesive and striking family of structures unique to the place and appropriate as a new gateway to the Meadowood Mall. The project provides a fresh and bright new component to the earlier aging infrastructure. Vicki's creative talent is supported by her outstanding technical ability to translate concepts into final design and work with project engineers to incorporate details. She approaches the work with passion and commitment.”

Blossom Hill Pedestrian Bridge, San Jose, CA
“The Valley Transportation Authority was building a bridge across a very dangerous railway and arterial highway and the project was well underway when the art program was initiated. Vicki Scuri enthusiastically participated in the project, working with a fairly small budget, and developed a way to effectively embellish a very standard steel truss pedestrian bridge in a dramatic and cost effective way. She collaborated effectively with her clients, the Valley Transportation Authority, the City of San Jose and local community members, to develop a strikingly beautiful screen and patterning system that captures the spirit of the place, creates a gateway to the neighborhood, and will encourage pedestrians to use the bridge.”

La Cholla Boulevard, Tucson, AZ & River Road Bridge, Tucson, AZ
“Vicki Scuri provided the design for the public art on La Cholla Boulevard Rillito River bridge now under construction in Pima County in Tucson, Arizona (July 2010). Her design work will appear in the concrete barrier and metal railing. Although there was a limited art budget, Vicki was able to develop a creative, distinctive design for this project.”

Walker Street, Cary, NC
“I can wholeheartily endorse Vicki Scuri! She thinks creatively and broadly as she approaches projects. Every public art project has implications beyond its footprint. Vicki Scuri understands urban design and brings creative skills and solutions that are sustainable and beautiful. Working as an individual artist or collaboratively with a team (engineers, architects, or other design professionals) she brings a unique way of elevating the thinking and helping the team find solutions with metaphor and resonance within the community.”
