Inspired by the native red bud on site, CNC carved heart-shaped leaf patterns and seedpods add pattern and texture to concrete walls and to two city entryway bridges at Courthouse Road and 10th Street. The leaf forms and seed pods are developed as sculptural forms that drape along the highway, adding scale and texture while softening the impact of the infrastructure on the once wooded site. Wall heights rise to 25'. The patterning sequences and transitions follow the site terrain. Bridge spans are clad with laser-cut leaf patterned grills, related to the wall patterning. The grills are LED back illuminated, becoming local landmarks along Highway 50.
